Have you ever had a conflict with a boss or professor? How was it resolved?

When an interviewer asks you how you deal with conflict, center your example on the solution rather than the problem. Always focus on the situation and never spotlight any one person as the source of the conflict. Taking a thoughtful approach by listening to the opinions of others first is always a good place to start! Show that you took the initiative and stayed calm to resolve the situation!

"I experienced this in my first year of college, feeling I wasn't fairly graded for my efforts. I advocated for myself, communicating as effectively as I could. My professor was at first stand-offish and told me to deal with it and do better next time. But I explained that I didn't understand why they graded me so egregiously on my grammar for a science-based project. After successfully being able to communicate this point in our exchange, they finally softened and explained that in the scientific community, communication, especially the written word, holds as much value as the work itself. I get that now."
