The interviewer at Mayo Clinic is trying to learn more about how you fit into your current company's culture and your sense of self-awareness. Take a moment to reflect on your relationships with your colleagues, nursing instructors, etc., and in what areas you have received praise or recognition in the past. Consider traits, skills, and characteristics that would be desirable to Mayo Clinic; for example, being a team player, reliable, effectively communicating, problem-solves, detail-oriented, etc. If your current employer uses a 360-feedback tool or another form of peer review, give examples from that survey.

"My nursing peers would describe me as a team player. I take pride in this and strive to be as collaborative and supportive of the team as possible. They would say I am reliable and always willing to jump in and help when possible. If we are short-handed and I have the capacity, I always go to my colleagues and offer to help pass meds, obtain patient vitals, or chart to assist them with getting caught up. Nursing can be very stressful, but when you are a part of a team that you know works together and supports one another, it makes the job much easier!"

"My peers would describe me as level-headed, calm, and collected. It takes a lot to upset me, and I handle high-pressure situations well. They would also describe me as a mentor, always quick to support or train someone. Because I have twenty years of experience, I have a lot of knowledge and skills that I often share with others, especially new graduate nurses. I love to train and teach others and feel like I have a lot to offer in this area."
