The interviewer will ask about a conflict with a physician or peer to gauge how you handle difficult situations and communicate with others. Healthcare professionals need strong communication and conflict resolution skills, so the interviewer wants to understand how you approach these scenarios. Be prepared to give an honest and detailed explanation of the situation and how you resolved it while emphasizing your ability to work collaboratively with others to provide the best patient care possible.

"I once had a situation where a fellow nurse who relieved me at work was often late, causing me to be delayed in leaving to pick up my kids from school. This created a conflict between us, as I didn't appreciate not being notified when she would be late. However, we discussed the issue and came up with a solution where she would make a conscious effort to be more punctual, and I would do my best to be patient and understanding when things didn't go according to plan. This open and respectful communication allowed us to work together more effectively, and we resolved the issue in a way that benefited both of us. As a nurse, I believe that healthy communication is vital to our work, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow in this area."
