"In my current position, I manage three people. I was having trouble with one employee that was consistently missing deadlines and calling in sick. It's always a delicate situation when someone calls in sick, as you don't want to pry too much. But I managed to meet with her and talk through some of what she was struggling with. We came up with a plan to work from home a few days a week until her personal life got better, and I distributed a bit more of her work. Eventually, she was back on track, but the communication piece was critical."
