"I've definitely dealt with some difficult customer situations in the past. I find that clear communication and a willingness to understand where they're coming from goes a long way. Generally, I ask questions to get to the bottom of what they're upset about and try to find a common ground solution that helps customers feel better without hurting the company in the process. I think being willing to listen and make your customers feel heard is the best way to diffuse a negative situation."
