The hiring managers at Intuit want to know about a situation where you used good judgment to solve a work problem. The goal of your response is to assure the decision-makers that you approach issues with care and logic. The decision-makers should envision you using good judgment in the workplace.

Avoid giving a vague response like, 'I use good judgment and strong logic all the time! If you hire me, I will make always decisions that are good for Intuit.' Although the hiring managers will be happy to hear that you plan to make wise decisions, this type of response fails to give a measurable example of your logic in action.

Behavioral-based interview questions that begin with 'Talk about a time when...' are best answered using the STAR method. STAR is an acronym for Situation, Task, Action, Result.
Give a work-related story example that showcases your logic and reasoning abilities. Share a brief overview of the problem you faced, discuss the pros and cons of each decision you could have made, and tell the hiring managers why the solution you chose was the best. Be sure to include details of the positive impact you generated for your employer by using strong judgment.

The average HireVue interview takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. This one-way video interview typically includes 3-5 questions. Depending on the HireVue parameters set by Intuit, the asynchronous interview platform will generally give you 30 seconds to prepare a response and up to 2 minutes to answer each question. It's important to note that HireVue stops recording as soon as your time limit is up, so it's better to run under time than overtime.

"(Situation) With Company X, we had a serious space issue in our warehouse. (Task) As the Warehouse Manager, it was up to me to find a creative and affordable solution. (Action) I rearranged our shipping lanes to allow smaller customer orders to be contained in one area. Next, I arranged for large customers to have a dedicated shipping area. (Result) This change made locating shipments and loading trucks much easier. My team of operators was thrilled with the change."

We had our elevator inspections in January. The inspector had a key card to enter our buildings and operate our elevators for testing. He notified me his key card was not working and he would have to return at a later date. This would delay the renewal of our elevator permits. Therefore, I issued a new key card for him to use while he was doing our inspections and hand-delivered it to him so we could renew our permits without delay.

Nice! It definitely appears that you used common sense here to solve the problem. Conclude your answer by reminding the interviewer that you are logical and solutions-oriented. Good job!

Working at a manufacturing plant, we needed a method to capture all costs for each of our customer programs. I created an Excel spreadsheet for each customer program to include all costs in the price of each product, including product costs, labor, rebates, incentives, shipping, and commissions. This provided our pricing structure for each customer.

Great job identifying the problem in your answer and providing details about your solution. To wrap up your answer, consider speaking about the positive impact your solution had. Perhaps it helped you organize information and work more efficiently, saving X amount of time each day or week. Maybe you shared it with other team members or your supervisor, and they used that to streamline and standardize the process within the department.
