Healthcare professionals will be in contact with patients who have infectious diseases, whether the patient knows it or not. As an Orthopedic Physician Assistant, you should treat all patients as if they have a contagious disease and protect yourself accordingly. If you are in contact with blood, bodily fluids, or airborne droplets, you should use the proper personal protective equipment. The interviewer wants to hear that you take the proper precautions and treat a patient who has tested positive for infectious disease and will not discriminate.

"I feel the same way when treating all my patients and do not feel a patient should be discriminated against because they have been diagnosed with an infectious disease. I took an oath to treat equally all persons who seek my care, and I uphold that oath. As with any patient, I always take the proper precautions and use my personal protective equipment."
