"While I have never designed a piece of hardware or a software application, I do understand the process engineers who do this work use. It begins with a needs analysis to understand what the hardware or software must accomplish. The engineer then defines the functionality of the product and the user interface. Once these parameters are in place, the product design begins. Using the agile methodology, the design is reviewed at each stage of development, and any bugs are addressed. Before releasing the final product into production, the engineer will perform a beta test to ensure that the product functions as designed and accomplishes the task it was built for."
