PPC (pay-per-click) is based on a completely different foundation than content marketing, but they can work together. The interviewer wants to know if your skillset is limited to content marketing or if you have a broader scope of knowledge about how different types of marketing work together.
If your knowledge base is limited to content marketing, be honest about that, and express a desire to learn about new marketing strategies. If you're familiar with PPC and it can be connected to content marketing, answer the question directly, giving an example if relevant.
"Even though PPC and content marketing seems like opposite strategies, PPC actually relies on content marketing to drive purchases. For example, PPC steers consumers to a company's website, but if the content on the site is overly "salesy," of poor quality, or doesn't offer anything helpful, it's unlikely visitors will stay on the site for any length of time, much less be motivated to make a purchase."
