By understanding your areas of interest, and what motivates your medical career pursuits, admissions can predict and help guide you on which courses you will enjoy and benefit from most. They want to ensure their future students are well placed in their diverse culture and that they'll benefit from everything they have to offer. This includes customized course loads based on your interests.
Share your most driving interests when it comes to your pursuits in the medical field. But be sure to frame it in context with what they have to offer. You want to send the signal that you've done your homework on their school, and that based on your findings, you have come to determine they have a lot to offer you. Suggesting you are most interested in a specialized field of medicine they have no programs for would suggest you haven't thought things through before applying to The Brody School of Medicine. Where possible, try to align your interests with theirs.

"At this point in my studies, I am most interested in Pediatrics as I have always had a passion for helping children. I bring a compassion that is required for that area of medicine. Also, the majority of my volunteer experience has been around children's issues. The area of medicine that I find to be my least favorite so far is Pathology. I have not excelled in the area of bio-science; however, I have hired a tutor to ensure my grades remain above average regardless of my natural interest."
