When you encounter academic difficulty, how do you react?
Every medical student will encounter academic challenges, so it's important to know that you are not alone when encountering such difficulties. Even more so, they are interested in how resourceful you are in overcoming such challenges. Underestimating the time required to devote to your studies happens. It's your reaction, how you overcome such challenges, and where you turn for answers that count here. You'll want to exhibit emotional intelligence and poise. Turning to your fellow students or your professors for guidance or help shows you have the where-with-all to turn to your team for assistance rather than going it alone. Volunteer the approach you've taken in the past what you learned from such experiences, and how it has benefitted you moving forward.
"When I have encountered academic difficulty in the past, I have recognized the issue early and approached my professor for additional information or study resources. With these resources, I will either increase the time spent reviewing the class material or engage another person to increase my understanding of the topic. For instance, during my biophysical chemistry class this year, I found myself falling behind as we approached the subject of molecular interactions. To ensure my success, I hired a Department of Chemistry tutor. This approach was beneficial, and I gained a much clearer understanding of the subject, which helped my grade a great deal. Should I come across any difficulties while attending medical school, I will not hesitate to seek outside assistance."
