Question 7 of 30

Why do you want to work for Walgreens?

"I want to work for Walgreens because it has been a family icon since I was a little girl. Every Saturday, I remember going to Walgreens with my grandmother to get her prescription, and she would buy me a treat. The staff was always so friendly, and they became like family to us. I know others feel the same way since Walgreens is consistently in the top five pharmacies for customer service and satisfaction. I want to be a part of providing excellent customer service with a company that has the same values as I do, and I am excited for the opportunity to interview for this position."

Why the Interviewer Asks This Question

The interviewer wants to understand why you chose Walgreens over other companies to work for. They want to see that you have done your research and can give solid reasons for choosing Walgreens. Respond with enthusiasm and passion in your voice to show the interviewer you are excited about the opportunity to work for their company.

      Focus Your Answer On

Focus on showing the interviewer you have done your homework. Review the company website, online reviews, and job description so you can give unique reasons why you want to work for Walgreens. For example, suppose you review the job description and find specific duties you would be responsible for if hired. Then, when you mention those particular duties in your interview, the interviewer will see you were diligent in reading the job description and show attention to detail.

      What to Avoid

Avoid giving a generic answer in your response. If you say that you want to work for Walgreens because it seems like a great place to work, that could apply to many other companies. Instead, when you say that you want to work for Walgreens because it has a consistent 4-star rating and is in the top five rated pharmacies for customer satisfaction, it shows the interviewer you have done your research.
