QUESTION 17 OF 30

How familiar are you with using Microsoft Office Suite?

The interviewer asks this question to determine your skill level using the different programs found in Microsoft Office Suite. The minimum qualifications for an HR Generalist are listed on the Walgreens website under "Career Areas." The minimum qualifications are an intermediate skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word. Preferred qualifications list a basic skill level in Microsoft Access. The interviewer wants to see how proficient you are using these programs.

You want to focus on assuring the interviewer you are very familiar with and comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite. Describe the different programs you are familiar with using and rate your experience level, keeping in mind the interviewer is looking to hire HR Generalists with at least an intermediate skill level. If you have Microsoft certifications for any program, highlight that in your response.

Avoid saying you are more experienced using Microsoft Office Suite than you are. If you describe your skills as intermediate or expert level and you are really at the basic level, it will be quickly apparent you were untruthful if hired for the position. If you want to improve your skills, there are online courses you can take to become more knowledgeable about all of the Microsoft programs.

"I am extremely familiar with using Microsoft Office Suite. I have been using Microsoft Office for ten years and have received my Master's level certification in Microsoft Word and Excel. I am also very proficient with PowerPoint and have created over 100 slide presentations."
