"I used to, on occasion, not communicate as clearly as I preferred. So I took several online courses on communication. This was about three years ago. I was astonished by how much goes into being an effective communicator. Now, I do all I can to keep myself open and available. I am receptive and transparent, often seek out feedback, and consider everything offered situationally. I am always clarifying, asking questions, and actively listening. I never go in assuming anything and want to learn. I take nothing for granted in communication, never speak with authority on a subject I am not fully versed in, and am more comfortable saying I don't know. So, I am confident in my skills, and look forward to continually improving upon them."

Some of the categories of communication include active listening, empathy, seeking clarity, asking questions, open-mindedness, situation observation, emotion control, adaptability, confidence, and presentation. This includes verbal, nonverbal, and written communication. Think about situations where your communication skills shined and those where you were challenged and identified areas where you still had room to grow. Showcasing your experience level with forethought will position you as an emotionally intelligent, and professionally driven candidate.
