Your interviewer wants to understand how extensive your industry knowledge is and to what extent you can be trusted as a reliable source of information, accurately representing the values and interests of the company's stakeholders. This will also offer a glimpse into your leadership potential, and whether your teams can turn to you for valuable information when they need to.

"I know there are a few solid resources dedicated to the metals and mining industry, but I honestly don't regularly deep-read any of them. Mostly, I just do quick reads through the newsletters I subscribe to and what moves into my news feed. I check out the headlines, maybe tap into some articles, and if it is super relevant or groundbreaking, I'll read on. However, I do stay current on the news articles, blogs, and other information pieces put out by the company I work for and represent. I think it's super important to have your finger on the pulse of your company. You need to do your best to represent them, right? I did the same with Teck Resources and read up on some of your more recent news stories. I also read a few issues of 'Connect'. Some really great stuff there that gave me deeper insight into the company. How about you? What are some of your favorite resources?"

Before answering this question, make sure you explore the Teck Resources news page on their website. There you will find news stories, coverage of their events, and stories that they present in their magazine called "Connect," where in every issue they cover stories of interest on their people and the places, sites, and scenes where they work. "Engaging employees through our company magazine Teck's Connect magazine is our source for company-wide communications. In this quarterly publication, we highlight employee achievements, community engagement activities, and much more." They also publish several reports, from financial reports to sustainability reports.
