Can you give me an example of a time you felt you weren’t recognized for your achievements? How did you deal with it?

When providing your answer, ensure you appropriately present the backdrop of the situation you're presenting. This simple question can open the door to a wide variety of complex answers, from what you consider an achievement to how you'd define a lack of recognition or acknowledgment. If a person's ego dictated their idea should have been prioritized above others for ego's sake, they clearly were never truly objective on the merits of the accomplishment they offer as an example. In another situation, the lack of recognition could be the result of a lack of leadership and a failure to develop an innovating mind, grooming them for success and growth.

As stated on their web pages, they are looking for "those who have a strong character, are communicative, competent, with analytic ability." They're interested in those that are interested in "expanding on their skills and expertise, exhibiting flexibility, and a broad mind and an absolute willingness to perform. Details are far less important than the presentation of analytical ability and strategic thought, using your expertise to develop solutions to complex tasks or problems. The best talents become outstanding executives through continuous development. We use the Finance Excellence Program to build and expand your skillset. This also benefits us at Siemens, after all, we need to measure ourselves against the best and keep growing, too." Consider how you might incorporate these points into your perspective when constructing your answer.

"I used to experience that when I was younger, feeling I wasn't recognized for my accomplishments. But all that equated to was my disappointment to be emotionally validated. Everyone has something going on, and one cannot expect someone to consistently be able to visualize your vision. So where I used to feel disappointed by such things, now I realize if I want recognition, I just need to be further along in my accomplishments. It's up to me to be assertive enough in my efforts to be recognized for them. This way, I ensure whatever I bring to the table is the best I could deliver on my own. If it can go further with others' assistance, that's great. If it gets shelved, I'll learn what I can from the experience and move on. Often, the sheer feeling of disappointment is the only setback, because that feeling can paralyze you, and keep you from moving forward. I like to think I'm past that, but who knows what the future holds."
