"(Situation) While attending university, one of my final projects was a group-based project worth 30% of each student's final grade. (Task) We did not have an officially appointed leader; however, our group quickly realized that we needed to have a designated leader to keep us focused. (Action) I have developed leadership qualities as the captain of my soccer team, and also as an avid volunteer. It felt natural for me to step up as the leader, and the group agreed to let me guide the project. I got to know each group member and their strengths, what they enjoyed doing the most, and what they least enjoyed. From there, I designated our primary and sub-tasks and then attached timelines to each deliverable. I followed up with each member by email every second day until we reached the finish line. (Result) Our final grade was 96%, and everyone in the group was thrilled. We all felt very accomplished, and I earned compliments from my peers on my leadership style."
