Netflix has a unique culture of freedom and responsibility. How will you embrace this aspect of our complex culture as it relates to your talent acquisition efforts?

You can access an entire brief on Netflix culture on the company website. Netflix's culture attracts people who desire excellence from themselves, their leaders, and colleagues. The company's primary principles include Freedom and Responsibility, which reads, 'We believe that people thrive on being trusted, on freedom, and on being able to make a difference. So we foster freedom and empowerment wherever we can.'

Some of the ways Netflix enacts a culture of freedom and responsibility include:

- Nearly every document is fully open for anyone to read and comment on, and everything is cross-linked.
- There are virtually no spending controls and few contract signing controls.
- The policy for travel, entertainment, gifts, and other expenses is five words long: 'act in Netflix's best interest.'
- The vacation policy is 'take vacation.'
- The parental leave policy is: 'take care of your baby and yourself.'
- Each employee chooses how much of their compensation they want in salary versus stock options each year.

By being a culture add, you will not only be a match for the workplace principles and environment that Netflix has carefully curated - you will also contribute your uniqueness. When forming your response, include specific examples of how Netflix enables its team members to embrace freedom and responsibility. When you respond, it should be apparent to the interviewer that you did your research on Netflix's stand-out culture.

"I genuinely appreciate that Netflix believes in trusting people and giving them the freedom to make a difference. As a confident and strategic individual, I thrive in work environments with freedom and empowerment. I did my research before today's interview and appreciate that Netflix actively provides freedom and responsibility to its team members. For instance, the Netflix vacation policy is 'take vacation.' Without rules and forms around vacation time, it's an incredible way to allow your team members to be a good example to others by taking time away, resting, and coming back with fresh ideas. I also read that Netflix shared documents internally broadly and systematically. Nearly every document is fully open for anyone to read and comment on, and everything is cross-linked. A lack of transparency and shared work is a common productivity blocker in recruitment, so this policy is an incredible differentiator in talent acquisition. As a Recruiter with Netflix, it will be inspiring to introduce top talent to this incredible culture and provide them with evidence of this culture in action."
