Building new relationships with new peers and leaders isn't always an easy task. It can be intimidating to some people to meet new people, especially in a brand new work environment. Some ways to get started include:

- Show a willingness to accept feedback and help
- Offer to join a committee or volunteer assistance in some way
- Avoid an air of entitlement or acting like a know-it-all...be ready to learn
- Avoid any gossip and speculation
- Ask meaningful questions and listen intently
- Be early on your first day (and every day after that!)

Due to differing personalities, co-worker connections can take time to form. Discuss the action steps you take to ensure that you have an active communication line with your co-workers, team, and management right from the start.
