32. How do you go about building relationships in a new workplace?
How to Prep
Your interviewer is curious about how effectively you would build relationships with your fellow associates and regular customers when onboarding. If they choose to hire you, it will be up to you to earn the respect and trust of those who are already there, taking pride in what they've helped build. One of Home Depot's values is "BUILDING STRONG RELATIONSHIPS - We build strong relationships based on trust and honesty. We listen and respond to the needs of our people, partners, and customers, and we act with integrity." So share your approach to building new and lasting relationships, and assure your interviewer you would be a valuable addition to their teams.

Experienced Example
"Well, this interview is just a warm-up, isn't it? So as soon as I end up getting hired somewhere, that interview starts all over with every other member of the team. I need to earn their trust and show an active interest in who they are and the role they play while learning as much as I can about the job from them. I need to perform as well as I claim I will and prove I am everything I say I am. That takes honesty, transparency, and integrity. Only then can I earn their trust and build the lasting relationships I look forward to in my new employ."
