"Last year, I had to talk to a colleague about some issues in his work processes that were increasing the work load for the rest of the team. What made this a difficult conversation for me personally was the fact that the colleague was a senior in our department and I was relatively new. Ahead of the conversation, I got my ducks in a row by documenting the processes that were impacted by his actions. I decided that my conversation would be in a more informal setting at his work station, and I approached him in a friendly manner, as we had a very good working relationship. At first, he was very taken aback by me approaching him, and I continued to reiterate that the issue at hand was impacting many more team members. At the end of the conversation, he thanked me for bringing the issue to his attention. Although it took some time for the issue to be completely remedied due to forces of habit, in the end, it did get remedied."
