In retail environments, upselling is a wonderful way to increase sales. The interviewer needs to know that you recognize these opportunities and will maximize them. Performance incentives can be very motivating. Talk to the interviewer about your feelings regarding performance incentives and your desire to increase sales for yourself and the company.

"I feel that performance incentives are a great idea. They keep an employee motivated to do a great job and ensure that they are on top of their goals. I love it when the company has a contest or rewards for great performance. Competitions can help motivate everyone. I think a great way to increase sales is to suggest things to the customer. For example, if the customer comes in and buys oil, I would ask if he needed the oil filter, or air filter, or maybe a drip pan. I'm amazed at how quickly a small sale can turn into a larger one."
