QUESTION 17 OF 32

Describe your relationship with your previous supervisor. How would you handle the situation if you had a disagreement with a manager?

In retail, there are times when the workload can be overwhelming and the stress of the moment results in bad communication. The interviewer needs to know if you will be respectful of your manager, and always conduct yourself in a professional manner. Be careful here. This question can also be a trap. If you are an employee who is critical of a former employer, it can signal to the hiring manager that you are a malcontent who should not be hired. Be positive. Emphasize your ability to get along, be a team player, and follow instructions.

"I have learned over the years to accept people as they are, and I try to do that with the people in positions of leadership. I believe that clear communication is the key to understanding what a supervisor is requesting of me. If I am confused, I try to ask questions for clarification. I never would argue with a manager or complain in front of a guest.
I think you will find me a great team player who is receptive to almost anything a supervisor asks me to do."
