As a Marketing Director, you'll lead your team as they work on projects and campaigns. The interviewer wants to know why you think you're a good leader. Your response will provide insight into whether you're a good fit for the company's culture.
"My strongest leadership quality is leading from within. I want my team to know that I am working with them toward success. For example, when a deadline gets close and there's a lot of work to be done, I always jump in to lighten the load. I also have an open-door policy, so everyone knows they can talk to me if they have any concerns. I'm also very empathetic and understand that everyone has responsibilities outside of work, and in the past, my team has expressed gratitude for my understanding. Lastly, I am a great motivator. I seek to understand what motivates each person on my team so I can offer the right kind of praise and support."
Some leadership qualities you might consider discussing are:
- Leading from within
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills
- Taking ownership for errors and mistakes
- Motivating your team
- Providing kudos to your team.
When you answer, choose three or four qualities and give concrete examples of each one.
