Depending on the size of the company, you may work with a very diverse team if hired. The interviewer wants to confirm you have experience working with and managing people with various professional backgrounds.
Emphasize your experience managing a diverse team, using an example if possible. If you haven't managed a diverse team in the past, that's okay; simply tell the interviewer about an experience you've had working as part of a diverse team and discuss how you'd use that experience to help you in a management position.
"A few years ago, I worked on a large marketing project for an electric utility company. They wanted to rebrand themselves in the communities they served to highlight their dedication to environmental sustainability. The scope of the project included a new logo, a redesign of the website and all outgoing print materials, and the development of a radio commercial campaign and podcast series. The team that tackled the project was very diverse. It included content marketing specialists, graphic designers, and scriptwriters, among others, and experience levels varied widely, from a college intern to staff with expertise in their fields. I created a spreadsheet to manage the workflow and ensure every piece of the project went through the right set of hands, including a tiered review process that guaranteed content was approved by the most senior people on the team."
