The interviewer wants to know that regardless of the circumstances, you will report any ethical concerns to your management team. The interviewer wants to hear that you will make the right decision and address any ethical issues.
Think about a time that you witnessed something at work that was unethical. An ethical concern can be related to time falsification, intentionally recording false data or even financial fraud. Think about a time that you needed to make a decision about an ethical issue and what you ultimately decided and what steps you took to address the concern.
"A few months ago, I had a coworker who was coming in over an hour late but putting her start time on her timecard. She was basically getting over eight hours of pay that she had not worked each time we received paychecks. It felt unfair to have the company paying her for the time that she was not there. She also frequently took long lunches and extended breaks. I spoke about it with my team lead who did a timecard audit and was able to see the major discrepancies. She was no longer employed with the company a few weeks later but we were never told if that was why because of confidentiality."
