"When I first began working in my current role, I was the only laboratory assistant because they were in the process of hiring others. They had two lab assistants on the third shift so I did not get a chance to see them while working. It was hard for me to learn processes and be sure that things were being done consistently on all shifts. I volunteered to shadow them on their shift for a week so that I could observe their processes. It was so helpful and we ended up sticking to a biweekly meeting that we do virtually so that we can all remain on the same page."

In my previous employment, I conducted microbial load assessments on whole raw milk and observed elevated levels of contamination in certain milk samples. After further investigation, I discovered that the contamination was due to non-sterile materials, resulting in various types of bacterial and fungal growth.
To overcome this challenge, I implemented a series of measures, including the use of sterile techniques and materials during testing. By repeating the assessments with sterile materials, I was able to obtain more precise and accurate results, ultimately resolving the issue.
