Employers want to hire honest people. If your partner is taking supplies for personal use, that is considered stealing. The interviewer wants to get a sense of your ethics and if you are reliable and trustworthy. Most companies want to know immediately so the supervisor can handle the situation.

"My first instinct would be to confront my partner, but I realize that is not the best course of action. I would immediately and discreetly contact my supervisor and advise them what I saw. I would leave it up to my supervisor to take care of the issue. I would not want to work with a partner who steals. If they are willing to steal from the company, I do not trust that they won't steal from a patient or from me."
