"I am an independent person in that I do not need continual prompting to get a job started or to complete it. As a university student, I learned independently every single day, found the resources that I needed, and completed assignments on my own. The interviewer is looking for a workplace example of a time when you acted independently. Be sure that you give an example of a time when your independent actions led to a successful result. Some of the ways you may have been independent include asking for new responsibilities, taking the initiative on a project without being asked, or take on the opportunity to learn a new skill.

"This year I have taken on additional learning opportunities including some real-estated related coursework. I took this step to further educate myself without being prompted by my employer. These courses will help me to have more impact at work and to complete new contracts with even more confidence."

I believe that as a highly independent worker, you gain self-starter skills and motivation. At my previous job as an office manager, I took on a filing project that I redid on my own. The office environment needed some organization, so I took it over and started a new filing system to keep the office more organized.
