The Admissions Committee at Midwestern University may use this question as an icebreaker to start the interview. The Past, Present, Future framework can help you build a memorable answer to questions that ask you to talk about your background or introduce yourself.
- Past: Discuss how you got to where you are today
- Present: Paint a picture of what you are currently doing
- Future: Discuss what you want for your future
Your response should give the admissions team a glimpse into who you are and how your academic or work history brought you to where you are today. Be sure to highlight the factors that make you an excellent candidate for the PA program.

"(Past) In 2018, I graduated from ABC University with a Bachelor of Nursing. Since graduating, I have worked in a family medicine clinic, assisting and supporting two physicians. My days include collecting patient histories, prepping rooms for physical examinations, and counseling patients on preventative health initiatives. (Present) Over the past year, I have felt the pull to further my ability to include diagnosing illnesses and collaborating to develop treatment strategies for my patients. After some research, I found that becoming a Physician Assistant was an excellent option to meet these career growth desires. (Future) As a Nurse, I have developed exceptional skills and knowledge that align well with the responsibilities of a Physician Assistant. I am ready to enter my next career phase and expand my education as a health care provider."
