Questions like this can be tricky, so be sure to note the question's wording before you answer. The admissions interviewers are not asking for your opinion on these topics. They are asking about your communication style. Talk to the Admissions Committee about how you remain tactful when controversial topics arise.

"As a society, we must become more comfortable with having open and constructive conversations around topics that might seem controversial. Recently topics like abortion and women rights have been significantly highlighted in the media. When approached with such conversations I remain calm, attentive, and actively listen. If I disagree with the other individual's stance, I can certainly say so but must remain respectful and not shame, humiliate, or isolate anyone because of their beliefs. However, I do think it's necessary to stand up against what is hurtful and wrong and will not remain silent when I know my voice matters."
