"A huge restructure came down from the top. Everyone allowed their imagination to get the best of them. Several people started reading way into the cryptic messaging explaining the restructure, and many were considering looking for other jobs, thinking they were going to be laid off. I brought this to the attention of my supervisors and confirmed that this restructure was just a rebranding for the way we were conducting business. I spread the word, refocused everyone's attention on the end goal, dispelled their fears, and shut the rumor mill down."

"There was a comment box in the break room. We were hopeful it would be beneficial for the crew. Unfortunately, snarky jokes or unrealistic requests were being dropped in there, mostly from one individual. So we removed the box, and the one individual who kept abusing it started getting everyone riled up, saying that their opinions don't matter. This employee had other performance issues, and they were let go. A few accused management of retaliating against this employee. I held a meeting with our whole staff and delicately covered all these points and asked what they think we should do. This led to us returning the comment box to the break room. Things smoothed out. Months later, the comment box sat there, empty."

Avoid describing situations in which the change affected you or your outlook negatively. You should not sound like you were sowing dissent in the workplace or contributing to upheaval.
