Darby Faubion has been a Nurse and Allied Health Educator for over 20 years. She has clinical experience in several specialty areas, including pediatrics, medical-surgical, critical care, and hospice.
With an organization the size of Mercy Health, unless you work in one specialty area, there probably won't be any need to relocate. However, the interviewer is asking this question to see if you would ever be willing to move to secure a permanent placement within the company. If you are happy where you are, say so. If you have considered moving or wouldn't mind a 'change of scenery,' this may be your chance! There is no wrong answer here.

"I have lived here most of my life, and honestly, I have to say I haven't ever given serious thought to moving. I do desire to find placement with a company that I can become rooted in and grow. That said, although I would prefer to stay in Ohio, if I am given the opportunity to advance my career and remain within the same company, I would certainly entertain the idea of relocation to Kentucky."

Focus on being completely honest in your response. If you would be interested in moving to Ohio or Kentucky, let the interviewer know you are flexible and would be happy to do what is best for Mercy Healthy. If you do not wish to relocate, explain why you are content where you are.

"At this point in my life, I am not prepared to relocate. My husband and I bought a house here three years ago to be closer to family, and we are strongly rooted in our community. I want to be a team player and do what is best for Mercy Health, but I am sorry that does not include moving out of state."
