How to Answer: Do you prefer to work in a team-based position or individually?
Advice and answer examples written specifically for a Mercy Health job interview.
16. Do you prefer to work in a team-based position or individually?
Why the Interviewer Asks This Question
The interviewer asks this question to see if you can work well on a team and by yourself when needed. Assure the interviewer you are a team player but can work alone when required. Working as a healthcare professional will see you doing both.

Focus Your Answer On
Talk to the interviewer about your preference for teamwork or working individually. Be sure to avoid pigeonholing yourself into one particular scenario (i.e., I only like to work alone). You may work well without needing much management or direction, or perhaps you are better driven in a collaborative and team-led environment. Either way, be honest with the interviewer about your preferences without leaning negatively one way or the other.
