I have faced many unexpected scenarios in my previous job as an airline. In particular long delays such as one time on a flight from Dubai to Toronto where we were delayed 3 hours after boarding. We had to make sure passengers remained calm and apologize on behalf of the airline.

Unfortunately, delays are very common when flying. You can give this response more impact by choosing a less common example of a time when you had to adapt to an unexpected change or difficulty. Make sure to talk about what you did to overcome the challenge and what the positive outcome was. This keeps the focus on you and what you did rather than the unexpected scenario.
