Although they've asked you to express your opinion, this question is more than learning about your views, but how you go about expressing them, and whether your views would align with theirs. Anyone who works for their company would be serving as a representative who they can trust to communicate on their behalf, reflecting the voice and opinions of the company.

"Well, 3M's impact is everywhere. The Post-It changed the world. It is a household name, and you can find them everywhere. In fact, even digitally across computers and platforms and apps. Behind the scenes as well, 3M is making the world a better place every day. 3M's branding is impressive as well, and I admire the company's marketing strategies. There also seems to be a common theme when it comes to reviews, comments, and news articles. That common theme is surrounding the fairness that you offer your employees. You have strong benefits programs and offer multiple growth opportunities in all departments. This seems like a really positive place to work. I simply didn't see your competitors standing out in that area."

Before your interview, study the language they use and the branded voice of the company. Familiarize yourself with their value propositions, and their mission statements, such as, "Make a difference in the world. Here, we collaborate using science and technology to address global challenges, improve lives and help create a better world. 3M launches approximately 1,000 new products each year, and as of 2019, every new product will be required to have a Sustainability Value Commitment that demonstrates how it drives impact for the greater good."

Before your interview, it is important that you not only research 3M, but also their competitors. What do you think 3M is doing better than any of their competitors? Be positive, compliment 3M on their efforts, and ensure that you do not bash the competitors at the same time.
