The TSA has put a lot of resources and effort into ensuring they fully embrace equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion. The TSA aims to be 'an employer of choice that maximizes talent, promotes diversity, and achieves excellence by maintaining an inclusive and innovative work environment.' The administration commits to a D&I plan that attracts and retains high-performing team members.
Before your interview, take the time to review the Diversity and Inclusion Plan released by the TSA. You can find this information on the TSA.gov website. Comb through their website for available documents and releases on diversity and inclusion. Then, work to create a specific and tailored response regarding how you will support and encourage their efforts.

Mistakes happen. But I believe that the TSA will give me all the necessary training to handle the hype if the situation arises.
Mary's Feedback
This is a great opportunity to emphasize your expertise in compliance and following company protocols. Consider adding emphasis in this area.
While mistakes can happen, I would rely on the training TSA provides and follow strict adherence to proper protocols in order to protect me, and TSA, from making national news.

Yes, But if you knew me, you would know I'm a very strict rule follower, and I'm not a fan of subjective rules or protocols.

Rachelle's Feedback
Your answer is very confident! I'm offering a slight revision to soften the delivery and re-frame the 'closing' statement.
"I am well aware that the TSA and its employees are under great public scrutiny at all times. There is no room for subjective rules or protocols in this industry, and you will find that I am a stringent rule follower."

I read through the TSA Diversity and Inclusion Plan and your goal to uphold a diverse, inclusive, and engaged workforce. I have taken diversity and sensitivity training and look forward to putting what I learned into practice.

Cindy's Feedback
You have good experience to draw on when answering this question, but I'd expand on it. What did the training teach you? Have you put these values into practice?
Anonymous Answer
You can not discriminate. There is no place for that in the workforce along with bullying. Everyone should be treated equally and fairly. I believe in the rule "See it Say it" My strong opinion is, If you don't report it, you are part of the problem.
Marcie's Feedback
This is a great answer because you come across as resolute and firm in your commitment to treat everyone equally and fairly. As a TSA screener, this is very important given you're screening people from all different backgrounds and cultures. It's necessary to be able to perform your job without stereotyping or discriminating. It's great that you believe in reporting anything improper that you see. This shows the interviewer again that you are full of integrity and that you will hold everyone, including your coworkers, to high standards.
Anonymous Answer
I plan to be ethical to my job, coworkers, and the public.

Chad's Feedback
You are certainly correct that you need to be ethical at all times as a TSA Screener. Consider confirming to the interviewer that you have reviewed and are familiar with the TSA's Diversity and Inclusion Plan (available on the TSA.gov website). I've offered a slight revision below to demonstrate how this may be phrased.
I am familiar with the TSA Diversity and Inclusion Plan and the agency's goal to be 'an employer of choice that maximizes talent, promotes diversity, and achieves excellence by maintaining an inclusive and innovative work environment.' I will support this effort at all times by acting ethically and assisting my coworkers and the public, regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, or religion.
Anonymous Answer
I will support the TSA's Diversity and Inclusion Plan by treating everyone I encounter with dignity and respect no matter what their background may be. In addition, I would also like to go a step further and learn more about the cultural customs and heritage languages of our passengers so that I can engage with passengers in an understanding and culturally aware way.
Marcie's Feedback
Awesome! This is a strong answer that shows your openness to learning about other cultures and commitment to treating everyone with respect no matter their background. If you haven't already read the organization's Diversity and Inclusion Plan, definitely check it out prior to the interview so you're familiar with it and know exactly how you'll contribute to those efforts. Also, if there's an example you can include here of a time when you worked in a diverse environment and acted inclusively, don't hesitate to mention it. Great job!
Prepare for behavioral scenarios and security questions that TSA interviewers prioritize.
