The interviewer is interested in your motivation behind becoming a rehabilitation counselor. It may be that you had an experience with a rehabilitation counselor, a family member or friend who works as a rehabilitation counselor, or a professor or guidance counselor who suggested the profession. Whatever it may be, give a short story of why you chose to work as a rehabilitation counselor.

"I chose a career as a rehabilitation counselor because I grew up surrounded by counselors, therapists, and doctors. My little sister has autism, and we have seen many specialists over the years. I was only six years old when I decided I wanted to work in this field. My sister had a rehabilitation counselor who was so patient and kind to my sister and my family. The counselor was the first person to get my sister to talk, and after that, I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up."
