Can you define RAM and ROM and discuss how they differ from each other?

"RAM stands for random access memory and is used to store data which is only needed temporarily. ROM stands for read-only memory. ROM is permanent and is used by the computer to store the information it needs to operate, such as the BIOS. RAM can be expanded to accommodate additional data and help the computer perform better. ROM is populated by the manufacturer and cannot be altered except when its contents are upgraded."

A RAM is a Random Access Memory meaning it temporarily stores data in a computer and requires power to hold data. A ROM is Read-Only Memory meaning its function is to only read data, for example on a BIOS but it doesn't require power to hold data. RAM can be expanded easily to improve the performance of a computer. A ROM is the memory installed by manufacturers and isn't recommended to modify.
