As an associate, you may be given assignments for which the law has not been clearly defined. The partner wants to understand the different arguments and will make the ultimate call on which approach to pursue. "There are many areas of law where statutes and case law do not lay out a perfect path to success for the client. In law school, we received extensive training in Westlaw and LexisNexis, and I am confident in my abilities to research using both of those resources. I fully understand the IRAC method of legal writing and can efficiently synthesize information into a memo to display the different scenarios for the client."
