"The first step I take to managing my time is make sure I am up to speed on the long-range plan and how that affects my week. That helps me to sketch things out across my days and makes sure I allow enough time for time-intensive assignments.
From there, I check my schedule every morning and plan out blocks of meeting time and working time. I allow myself some down time to give time for impromptu discussions, new assignments, and whatever else comes up.
I also schedule a bit of catch-up time at the end of each week. I find that there are usually a small handful of tasks I had to push back that need attention, and I like to end each week with as clean a slate as possible.
