Briefly describe a time when you mentored a teammate or coworker. Walk your interviewer through the nature of the relationship, what you offered your mentee, and anything you learned or grained from the experience. Keep in mind that it is acceptable to describe a time when you demonstrated the ability to mentor without being formally assigned to work with a mentee.

"I am currently mentoring one of the advanced analysts on my team. She is really talented and wants to move into project management. We meet regularly to discuss her goals and identify opportunities to work toward them. She shadows me in some of my more important client meetings and I assign her tasks that allow her to gain experience. I have enjoyed working with her and she has helped me with a few data-related assignments along the way."

"I have mentored several engineers throughout my career. I am a subject matter expert on a few specific technologies and they come to me regularly with challenges. My typical approach is to talk the scenario through and ask questions that help guide them to a solution on their own. I find that model helps them solve problems in the future as well as the current problem they are facing."
