With the ongoing changes in the healthcare industry, how do you keep your knowledge current to improve your work?
MediClinic expects its staff to stay up-to-date in their respective fields, and today's technology makes this reasonably straightforward, with opportunities available at your fingertips. List several ways you receive your industry knowledge and stay on top of new trends in your field. Tell the interviewer about those daily email updates you receive from professional organizations, conferences you attend, and seminars you have taken. Lastly, ask the interviewer what resources they refer to for industry trends. That question can start up a great conversation, and you may learn a thing or two.
"Every morning, I listen to X Podcast because I find the information fresh and valuable. In addition to this podcast, I also subscribe to a couple of industry blogs. One is ABC, and the other is XYZ. I also greatly value the information shared between fellow professionals. What resources do you prefer to stay on top of industry trends and changes?"
"Continuing Medical Education opportunities are significant in my field, and I love that we need to learn and adapt to our job continually. Over the last year, I have taken online courses to obtain my Ambulatory Care and Pain Management Nursing Certification. I also attended a conference on psychiatric nursing two years ago. If hired at MediClinic, I would continue my nursing education throughout the remainder of my career."
It is best to describe several ways you stay current on developing trends. If you only list one way you receive your news on changes to the healthcare industry, the interviewer may feel you lack the motivation to seek out information and improve.
