"Working as a Medical Lab Tech, it sometimes can be difficult to keep a focus on the patient because the reality is that we are only dealing with their blood work or tissue samples. Not seeing patients face to face can make it hard for some to put their work into the person they are helping to treat or diagnose. With that thought in mind, I always remind myself that my work could critically impact how a patient with cancer or another life-threatening disease could be diagnosed or treated, and I treat the samples I work on as an individual. When I can, I always follow up with Pathologists on patients down the road for personal closure."
