If your interviewer feels that your interview is going well and there may be a good chance that Fonterra will offer you the job, your interviewer will want to get a sense of where you are with your overall job search and if you are applying or interviewing with any of their competitors. This will help them know if you are under any timelines for a decision on an offer and if they'll potentially be competing for your services.

"At the time I applied here at Fonterra Limited, I was not actively looking for a new job. A very good friend works here and couldn't say enough about this opportunity as a category delivery coordinator. I am not applying to or interviewing anywhere else as this sounds like the dream opportunity from what I've read and what I've learned from the team here today."

"Yes, I have applied with Dairyworks and Milkio for maintenance and production positions and have had an initial phone conversation with one of the companies recently. I'm looking for the right fit for me and my values, and I'm confident I have found that fit here at Fonterra."

First and foremost, be open and honest about where you are in your job search. If your head and heart are set on working for Fonterra, let your interviewer know that this is the only job you are considering at this time. If you are considering any other opportunities, talk about where you are with your application and/or interview process. You can and should also let your interviewer know if you are considering any other offers. Do not discuss the financial details of other offers though. Because they openly ask, let them know if you are considering any of their competitors in the dairy industry.

I did research on companies that I think are Fonterra's largest competitors are Open County and Slynait. I also did research on them and what they could possibly provide. I found Fonterra most satisfactory for not only your approach towards the product and customers but the environment and workers too!

Chad's Feedback
Good start! You clearly identify two of Fonterra Limited's largest competitors. However, you have not quite answered the second part of the question. If you have not applied to any of the other companies, I suggest rounding out your response with a concluding sentence, such as, "For those reasons, I have not applied to any of these companies, and I look forward to the opportunity to join Fonterra Limited."
