Why the Interviewer Asks This Question

While this question gives your interviewer insight into the diversity of your programming language experience, the interviewer also wants to know that you are adaptable and can learn on the fly if needed. Research Coinbase as much as you can before your interview so that you can discuss the specific languages they work with. The need for programming knowledge will depend on the role to which you're applying. Some roles may not require any previous experience in coding.

      2nd Answer Example

"The majority of my experience has been using Python, both during my training to be an engineer and in my current role since graduating. My current role delves deeply into artificial intelligence, and Python is awesome with this advanced technology. As I understand it from talking to an engineer here at Coinbase, it would be helpful to learn React. Though I haven't worked directly with React, I believe my experience and willingness to learn would lead to my success in this role."
