Do you have SCRUM Master Certification?
Many American Express Project Manager positions list SCRUM Master Certification as a preferred job requirement. The interviewer wants to know if you have become a Certified SCRUM Master, which indicates you have the leadership and team-building experience they are looking for in a Project Manager.
Focus on keeping your answer brief and answering if you have the certification or not. If you are SCRUM Master Certified, explain how long you have been certified and confirm you have maintained your certification by renewing every two years. If you are not SCRUM Master
Certified, indicate your interest and willingness to obtain certification, showing you are motivated to improve as a Project Manager.
Avoid saying you are certified if you are not or that you are unwilling to obtain your certification. The interviewer will ask for copies of your degrees and certificates, so you do not want to be caught being dishonest. If you say you are unwilling to become certified, it shows the interviewer that you are not inspired or motivated to grow professionally.
"Yes, I am a Certified SCRUM Master and received certification almost two years ago. My certification will be renewed next month as I recently submitted my 20 hours of SCRUM educational units."
