"One day at the Pet Emergency Center, we had a dog come in that was severely dehydrated and had a viral infection. This dog needed to have overnight monitoring but we were full at the time and unable to accommodate an additional animal for that night. I worked with another vet tech to move some animals around so that we could monitor the dog overnight. We ended up putting another pet that did not need to be on any IV fluids into a clinic room for the evening where he was still closely monitored. Normally, we do not keep pets if we do not have the staff or room to care for them but I really did not feel comfortable sending this pet home and I knew that the customer felt most comfortable at our center so I did what I could to make it work."
