"Release on Demand is a concept where solutions are packaged and ready for release as soon as the customer is ready to accept them. It is a part of the Continuous Delivery Pipeline. For example, a release train may go through several iterations and develop several increments before a customer accepts the new features into a production environment. The goal is to anticipate when various increments will be needed and to have them fully tested and ready for deployment with minimal delay.
Release on Demand has four components. The first is 'Release' which includes the activities necessary to release. The second is 'Stabilize and Operate' which includes ensuring a solution is up and running as intended. The third is 'Monitor' which includes gathering metrics to test for business value, and the fourth is 'Learn' which involves gathering lessons learned and developing best practices to continually offer an optimal Release on Demand experience."
