Describe your experience with social media.

In-depth knowledge of social media is a requirement for any marketing position. The interviewer wants to know how familiar you are with different social media platforms. Keep in mind that they are not asking about your personal social media experience; they're hoping to hear about it in a professional context (i.e. what you've learned in your coursework and any professional experience you have).

"Several of my courses have focused on social media marketing, so I'm familiar with all the main platforms. In fact, last semester I completed a project analyzing a local bank's presence across four different platforms: Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube. It was a great way to understand how to maintain brand consistency and engage with followers. I've also used Instagram at a previous job to post daily specials and weekly quizzes."

Focus your answer on marketing-related information--show off what you've learned in your classes! Talk about the demographics of users on different platforms and what type of content is best for each platform. You can also mention companies that use social media for marketing and do a great job. Avoid talking about your personal experience or personal profiles.
